Expanding access to higher education in prison

In partnership with the National Alliance for Prison Higher Education and a dozen prison-based college programs around the country, we are conducting a study of the pathways to higher education for the currently and formerly incarcerated.  The primary goals are: to support the emerging field of higher education in prison by bringing together aggregate data on programs, creating a central hub of information, and working with programs from around the country to collaborate in data collection and dissemination. The project includes a national survey of programs providing higher education to those in prison, as well as site visits to programs around the country to gather information on the challenges and opportunities associated with providing high-quality education to incarcerated people.
