Supporting the search for employment

In 2019, the People Lab collaborated with the California Policy Lab, the City of Los Angeles’ i-team, and the Los Angeles Economic and Workforce Development Department (EWDD) to support unemployed Angelenos who were seeking training or employment opportunities. In a randomized experiment conducted over 14 weeks, job seekers who received timely and regular communications related to their job search were 3% (1.4 percentage points) more likely to interact with Los Angeles’ city-run WorkSource Centers, and 20% (1.6 percentage points) more likely to be employed at the end of the intervention period.
